Professional Engineering Consultant
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Survey Technician to join our team! In this role, you will assist in surveying land to determine the precise location and measurements of various points, elevations, line areas, and contours for construction, mapping, land division, titles, and more. You will play a critical role in supporting various land development projects, collecting vital field data, and preparing survey maps and CAD files.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct fieldwork on civil engineering and construction survey projects, including topographic, ALTA, boundary, Right of Way, and Flood Elevation Certificates with guidance from senior survey staff.
Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches detailing work performed.
Place and secure stakes at specified points in the ground.
Utilize and maintain various surveying equipment, including tablet computers, digital cameras, GPS, robotic total stations, and other measuring tools.
Recover survey controls and monumentation, along with conducting utility and photo documentation surveys.
Assist the survey crew chief in obtaining critical invert and subsurface utility information.
Engage with drone and scanning technologies for enhanced data collection.
Perform office tasks such as CAD drafting, data management, and deed/map research.
Stay current with surveying practices and best management techniques.
Assist in analyzing survey data to prepare detailed reports and maps.
Ensure accuracy and completeness when collecting and recording field data.
Manage and track survey supplies, ensuring the safety of equipment and compliance with safety regulations.
Participate in additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the company.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in using surveying equipment like total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
Capable of completing topographic surveys with a crew or party chief's assistance.
Effective communication skills and the ability to read and understand instructions.
Able to work outdoors for extended periods, navigate through various terrains, and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Competent in working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Good mathematical skills and proficiency with calculators, tablets, and computers.
Exhibit regular attendance and punctuality.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
One year of experience in land surveying is preferred.
Experience with survey instruments and data collection tools.
Familiarity with surveying software and data processing systems is a plus.
License and Certification:
A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as per company insurance standards.
