JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Network Administrator and guidance from the Lead Computer Technician, the Computer Technician II is responsible for installing, troubleshooting and supporting staff and students in the use of computer hardware (including iPads and other digital computing devices), peripherals and software in a network environment. Duties include the set up and maintenance of iPads, computers, printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors, scanners and other peripherals; and providing help desk support or on-site technical support.
Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job: • Knowledge of computer operating systems Windows, Chrome, and iOS. • Knowledge of hardware on multiple platforms, PC and Mac. •
Experience in supporting and managing iPads utilizing Jamf and Apple School Manager strongly preferred. • Knowledge of mobile devices and mobile apps • Fundamentals of computer networking and connectivity including wireless networks. • Knowledge of hardware components (including audiovisual systems), their operations and functions, and procedures for troubleshooting problems and conflicts. • Knowledge of diagnostic, repair and troubleshooting procedures, techniques and procedures. • Knowledge of district standardized applications and software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps for Education • Knowledge of remote software support • Experience with Hapara (filtering) preferred. • Ability to multi-task and provide a high level of customer service to our staff and students
Duties and Responsibilities: • Provides advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting or repair of computer equipment and peripherals. Deals with vendors over warranty issues/repairs/replacement issues. Contacts vendors for support of their hardware and software • Installs and tests system operating software, menus and authorized application software. • Sets up and maintains computer equipment and peripherals in new locations. • Assists district employees on-site or via help desk support in the use of hardware and software supported by the district. • Maintains proficiency with common hardware and software being used across the district to provide technical support. • Maintains and monitors inventory of computer hardware and software in assigned building(s). Enroll and maintain licenses in tablets, chrome books and other devises. • Build user accounts, maintain user access and assist with password resets in various databases to enable educational programs and services. • Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required. a) Attends training seminars, conferences, workshops, webinars and other online training to keep informed of developments, trends and changes in technology. b) Participates and serves on various committees, as delegated.
Degree Information: Associate's Degree or Vocational training Major field of study or degree emphasis: Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information or related area.
Required Work Experience in Addition to Formal Education/Training: Minimum of 1 year experience in computer science or information technology. Experience in supporting technology systems in a K-12 education environment preferred.
Location: This is a fully onsite position in Hastings, MN.
