Scope • Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, evaluating and effectively directing the clinical staff and program to ensure the delivery of high quality resident care and services consistent with regulations and established clinical best practices. • Collaborate with other departmental managers to make operational and programming decisions to promote the health and wellness of all residents. • Works closely with the Executive Director, Manager of Culinary Services, Life Enhancement Coordinator, nursing staff, residents and families, and the medical community. Has direct supervision of Resident Assistants.
Key Responsibilities • Supervise Personnel - Interview, train, orientate, evaluate, recognize and disciplines staff as needed. This includes providing day to day work direction and problem solving as issues or conflicts arise. Continually communicate expectations with staff. Ensure staff complies with online education training. Follow organizational Human Resource policies. Develop and maintain staffing and scheduling systems reflecting quality, cost, and appropriateness, based on workload, skills, availability of support services, infection control issues, and safety considerations. Provide regular staff meetings and ongoing employee educational and development opportunities which meet regulatory requirements and increase knowledge. Create and maintain a work environment for employees that is conducive to high productivity and morale. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with employees. • Resident Living - Create and maintain an environment that achieves high quality care (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) of residents and maintain their independence and dignity to the highest degree possible within the Vivie continuum. Works closely with RN Case Managers to provide direct care, as needed, and understands the daily clinical goals of each resident. Can fill in on the floor and on-call, as needed. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers. • Clinical Management - Implement and maintain specific clinical standards for the community. Follow the steps of the nursing process: Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care based upon regulations and established clinical best practices. Manage and monitor the clinical components of the medical record for completeness and accuracy. Coordinate resident clinical needs with other resident care services both within and outside the facility. Knowledgeable of all federal and state rules and statutes that pertain to the assisted living facilities, interprets changes to the rules, and plans and executes policy and procedural changes to ensure compliance as set forth by the Clinical Consultant of Housing. Works closely with the Clinical Consultant of Housing to achieve set policy and processes. • Financial Management - Manage resource allocations in order to achieve or exceed operational goals. Ensure adequate staffing in the community that meets resident care needs and financial goals. Coordinate all aspects of the resident's stay with regard to their payment source. Demonstrate good stewardship of available resources. • Communication - Use proactive and positive language; use active listening skills; provide constructive feedback; convey information accurately and timely; communicate openly and directly with others. • Continuous Improvement - Participate in and implement quality performance in all aspects of job responsibilities and functions. Participates in and promotes teamwork. Seek, recommend, and/or implement new methods and means of providing quality service and continuous improvement. • Other Duties as Assigned - Complete other projects as assigned by the Executive Director and Clinical Consultant of Housing. Serve on organizational committees as well as participating in industry events and committees as requested by the Executive Director and Clinical Consultant of Housing. Education and Experience Required • Must be a registered nurse with current licensure with the State Board of Nursing in Minnesota and have three to five years of leadership experience in nursing or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience. • Must have experience in health care management and operations, quality management, staff development, resident and family support systems and community outreach. • Must have an ability to work effectively with residents, families, and staff who collectively possess a variety of personalities and backgrounds. • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in gerontological nursing, rehabilitative and restorative clinical practices. • Must complete and pass a state required background study. • Able to physically perform the duties required by the position. • Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors
