ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Data and Impact Specialist will work with the Sr. Director of Community Programs to ensure the day-to-day operations of SPY and its data management systems. The specialist will ensure a high level of data quality and accuracy and monitor progress on organizational data outcomes. The specialist will need to be well-versed in Microsoft Excel and Clarity. Other duties include overseeing and educating SPY staff on SPY's data collection platforms (including Civicore, HMIS, ihoms, and Rasor's Edge), scheduling meetings, and supporting general programming and site needs. The specialist will be responsible for measuring and demonstrating the organization's impact by providing necessary data analysis.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Outcomes and Metrics Development
Support Program Managers in the writing of program work plans by providing recommendations and feasibility analysis of proposed metrics. Support Sr. Leadership Team in analyzing the implementation of the strategic plan in order to determine feasibility. Data Collection
Provide support to departments with data gathering activities. Serve as a liaison to research partners, facilitating a vetting process for SPY's participation in third party research projects. Database Architecture
Design data systems tailored to each programs' data needs and staff activities. Integrate data systems to enable cross-analysis. Continuously re-evaluate and improve systems to make data entry easier and to create more analysis opportunities. Work closely with database vendors to ensure cost-effective implementation of database architecture. Training, Support and Monitoring
Develop and deliver training including for new staff during onboarding and for all staff when improvements are made to data entry systems. Develop and maintain processes for monitoring data integrity (accuracy and consistency). Provide feedback and support to staff struggling with data integrity issues. Provide troubleshooting support and technical assistance to remove any barriers to staff's ability to utilize databases. Support all staff with ad-hoc data needs (i.e. single client record, event attendance, etc.). Provide training for management and leadership to enhance top-down organizational understanding of data analysis techniques and practices. Analysis, Reporting/Dashboards and Presentations
Provide regular (monthly/quarterly/annually) reports on grant outcomes. Provide regular (monthly/quarterly/annually) reports on program metrics. Provide an updated monthly dashboard for leadership with at-a-glance visibility across all programs / projects. Provide project-based reports for development team needs including grants, marketing, advocacy, etc. Develop and present strategic reports for ongoing organizational learning through data analysis. Liaison to Data Partners
Serve as primary liaison to database vendors and technical consultants focused on ensuring our organizational data system is fully operational across multiple databases. Support third-party researchers using SPY as a surveying site. General

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
3+ years experience or equivalent education in research, evaluation, data systems management, and software oversight. Proficiency with data system administration, Excel, and Google Apps. Experience working with large quantitative datasets and creating databases. High level competency in evaluation approaches (quantitative and qualitative). Ability to provide training on performance measurement, data collection methods and evaluation concepts. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including leadership, programs management, board members, and private and public funders. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of social service resources for youth experiencing and at-risk of homelessness. Working knowledge of trauma- informed and harm reduction service models. Professional experience working within and leading multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment. Must have reliable transportation, valid California driver's license and proof of current insurance. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors. Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.
