How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The Senior Data Scientist, Engineering Analytics will help advance the engineering and maintenance organization through the application of innovative and robust analytical and modeling solutions aimed at deriving insights from complex aircraft mechanical performance data. These include, but are not limited to, the application of innovative large language models aimed at deriving insights from maintenance and engineering documentation, technical instructions, and operational text data. Analyses may also include cross-skill partnerships for the development of risk metrics, predictive maintenance solutions, and aircraft performance alerts.

An appropriate candidate will have hands-on experience in natural language processing, machine learning, statistical analysis, and data storytelling. The candidate should also have good organizational and communication skills.

Primary Functions:

Develop machine learning models and advanced analyticssolutions for complex business problems in the engineering, predictivemaintenance, and aircraft reliability space

Make appropriate selection, utilization, andinterpretation of advanced analytics methodologies

Participate in continuous improvement of data science bydeveloping replicable solutions and well documented models

Seek further knowledge on key developments within datascience and related fields

Provide technical education on advanced analytics to thedata science community

Clearly communicate impacts of the recommended analyticssolution to business partners to drive adoption and implementation

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

Master's degree in DataScience, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, orequivalent combination of education and experience (Doctoral degree preferred)

3-5 years of workexperience in advanced analytics and data science

Working knowledge of GIT for codemanagement

Good written, oral communication,and interpersonal skills

Strong project management,organizational, and prioritization skills

Consistently makes safetyand security, of self and others, the priority

Must be performingsatisfactorily in present position

Consistently prioritizessafety and security of self, others, and personal data.

Possesses a high schooldiploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

Is at least 18 years of ageand has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

Experience with AWS services forData Science development (e.g., Sagemaker, S3, Bedrock) or equivalent cloudservices

Fluency with SQL and relationaldatabases

Knowledge of transformerarchitecture and current landscape of LLM

Working knowledge of APIConsumption preferred

Proficiency in building and fine-tuning transformer-based models (e.g., BERT) for NLP and classification tasks

Familiarity with API consumption and orchestration of pipelines

Comfortable with command-line tools and automating workflows via Python scripts

Hands-on experience with prompt engineering

5 or more years experience in the Data Science domain
