Overall responsibility:

As a Data Steward for Deposits business, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality, integrity, and usability of Deposits data. You'll serve as a liaison between business units and IT to support effective data governance, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve the overall data environment. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in data management who is ready to take ownership of critical data domains and play a strategic role in advancing data maturity within a member-focused financial institution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and improve data quality across systems, including core banking, lending, CRM, and reporting platforms.

• Work with business stakeholders to define and manage data standards, definitions, and classifications.

• Identify data issues and partner with business, IT, Tech and other platform teams to resolve root causes.

• Maintain and enhance data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and business glossaries.

• Support and contribute to data governance initiatives, policies, and procedures.

• Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to ensure adherence to data privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g., NCUA, GLBA, CCPA).

• Provide training and guidance to business users on data best practices and governance processes.

• Participate in or lead data quality projects and initiatives aligned with strategic goals.

• Assist with the implementation and adoption of data management tools.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data.

Company / Industry Knowledge:

Prior experience in banking, credit union or financial services industries is strongly preferred.

Other Experience:

• Solid understanding of data quality frameworks, governance principles, and data lifecycle management.

• Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel and experience with Power BI, Tableau, Ataccama.

• Familiarity with core banking systems and financial data structures.

• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

• Understanding of relevant data privacy and regulatory compliance requirements.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a credit union or financial institution.

• Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent.
