Business Systems Analyst(Bioinformatics) Location: Remote (CST Hours) - Houston, TX Duration: Full-Time

About the Role: The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between lab operations and IT by analyzing, defining, and documenting requirements to facilitate effective technology solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of lab operations and bioinformatics, along with excellent analytical and communication skills, to collaborate with stakeholders, gather requirements, and drive technology initiatives aligned with business objectives.

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field. Certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are a plus.

Experience:

2+ years of experience as a Systems/Business Analyst or in a similar role. Hands-on experience working with bioinformatics platforms, genomic data workflows, or scientific data analysis is a strong plus. Skills & Qualifications:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with business process modeling, workflows, and system integrations. Experience working in bioinformatics environments such as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) pipelines, genomic data platforms, or data visualization tools is preferred. Knowledge of databases, SQL, and reporting tools. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Knowledge of API integrations, database structures, and automation tools is a plus. Understanding of healthcare compliance (HIPAA, CLIA) and security best practices . Experience in one or more of the following areas:

Lab workflows Revenue Cycle Management Bioinformatics (e.g., working with genomic data, annotation tools, sequencing platforms, or lab data pipelines) LIS Reporting Online Ordering Platforms Order Management

Key Responsibilities: Requirements Gathering & Analysis

Work with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into functional and technical requirements. Conduct gap analysis and feasibility studies, especially focusing on system integration and interoperability. Document business processes, workflows, and integration points between internal and external systems. System Design, Integration & Implementation

Collaborate with developers and IT teams to design and implement solutions that optimize business operations and system connectivity. Develop system models, integration diagrams, and specifications. Test new systems and interfaces, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless data flow across platforms. Project Management & Support

Act as a liaison between business units and IT teams, particularly for cross-system initiatives. Assist with project planning, timelines, and deliverables related to integrations and process improvements. Train end-users on new systems, processes, and integrated workflows. Data Analysis & Reporting

Analyze data trends and integration outputs to support business decision-making. Develop reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to monitor integration health and business KPIs.
