We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support a secure, cloud-hosted infrastructure used for healthcare program monitoring and reporting. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale databases that support analytics and operational oversight for critical public health programs. You'll play a central role in ensuring data reliability, security, performance, and availability within a high-volume, compliance-driven environment.
Responsibilities :
Administer and maintain cloud-hosted databases in support of healthcare analytics and reporting systems Implement database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and optimization routines Support secure handling and storage of sensitive data, including PHI and PII, in compliance with industry standards Perform database backup, recovery, patching, and disaster recovery planning Collaborate with developers, data analysts, and cloud engineers to support application performance and data access needs Monitor system health, usage patterns, and security events related to the database environment Manage data access permissions, roles, and encryption strategies in accordance with security and compliance requirements Qualifications :
5+ years of experience as a DBA, including recent experience with cloud-native database platforms (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) Deep experience in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar RDBMS environments Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) is a plus Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) for database provisioning Solid understanding of HIPAA, NIST, or other compliance frameworks related to data security Proficient in database monitoring tools, logging, and query optimization techniques Preferred:
Experience supporting healthcare-related datasets such as HEDIS, CAHPS, claims, provider data, or quality reporting systems Knowledge of data warehousing concepts or integration with analytics/reporting platforms Exposure to government or public sector IT systems
