Role: Network Engineering Management Intermediate. Location:
San Antonio, Texas (100% onsite).
Job Description:
Functional Responsibility: Provide highly technical expertise in LAN and WLAN network architecture development, network/systems design review, cable infrastructure, and network product research. Manage network infrastructure upgrade design projects. Review project implementation plans. Coordinate project activities, monitor project milestones, and daily progress reports. Basic Services: Support Engineering efforts across a variety of areas, including the Medical Community of Interest (MEDCOI) Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless Area Network (WLAN), and Guest Wireless (GWLAN). Review LAN and WLAN network designs that maintain guidelines and standards incorporated by The Joint Commission, Underwriters laboratory (UL) Life-Safety, Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI), and Electronic Industries Alliance/Telecommunication Industry Association (E IA/TIA). DHA LAN/WLAN Technical Requirements and Guidance (TR&G). This also includes the DoD, MHS, BITI, etc., for data and network infrastructure in MTFs. Provide subject matter expert (SME) support to review the DHA LAN/WLAN Upgrade Technical Requirements and Guidance, as well as other architectures, designs, and standards, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and implementation support. Utilize the DHA trouble ticketing system to document specific limited IM/IT incidents, outages, issues, problems, and actions. The DHA currently uses Service Now. Provide senior-level support for the DHA MTFs and activities, thereby ensuring all assigned tickets are properly prioritized, worked, and/or routed to the Vendor Support Teams (TAC) for hardware failures and Major Failures in the equipment hardware or firmware Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT) as requested by the Government. Prepare and deliver talking papers, white papers, and presentations to DHA and other DoD medical entities. Subjects include, but not limited to: Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), Voice-over-Internet Protocols (VoIP), Information Assurance (IA), Information Security, Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), Passive Optical Network (PON), Network Automation and Scripting methodologies, Automation Architectures and systems, Virtualization, Cloud Computing, other current and future technology/trends, Thin Client support for optimal network efficiency for medical application support and delivery etc., based on extensive current and relevant technical research and evaluation. Provide support for the creation and development of medical information technology (IT) standards and documentation of technology processes affecting enhanced healthcare delivery. Support the Government on solicitation responses from Statements of Work (SOWs) and List of Materials (LOMs) received from third-party vendors Ensure accuracy of all deliverables before submission to the Government. Coordinate project activities, monitor project milestones, and provide progress reports. Provide weekly reports summarizing all Task Areas Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline related to information technology and 5 years' experience in an engineering discipline related to information technology. A B.S. degree in any STEM field is acceptable. An additional 10 years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. Must have one of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Ruckus Certified Network Implementer (RCNI), Brocade Certified Network Professional (BCNP), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP), or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE). A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience may result in waiving this requirement for up to 12 months by approval of COR. Clearance required: Public Trust.
