Req#: 3877236 Troubleshoots and maintains electrical, SCADA and control equipment for Water Pollution Control Plant and appurtenances. This includes all security, process control, instrumentation, industrial radio frequency (RF) communications, and data monitoring aspects for the wastewater system for the City.
Budgetary Responsibilities: Assists in developing the budget and recommending purchases and capital items to the appropriate division during the annual budget process. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical service, motor control, and lighting circuits at any facility within the Utilities Department. Troubleshoots, repairs, and programs SCADA equipment at any facility within the Utilities Department. Installation, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and testing of power generation and distribution equipment, and rotating equipment. Evaluates and recommend changes to the SCADA master plan. Researches, analyze, and recommends system design criteria, including the design of interfaces for existing and new equipment and software. Instructs users of SCADA and motor control circuits at any facility within the Utilities Department. Calculates electrical loads for equipment and installs conduit and wiring according to current codes. Keeps abreast of changes in the Electrical Code and Regulations and makes recommendations on their impact on the City. Maintains a backup of current load files, HMI screens, and other associated software. Maintains the inventory of supplies used and replaces them as needed. Performs Operations & Maintenance duties as assigned Performs related duties as required. Ability to sit, stand , stoop, squat, and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites. The employee will work in seasonal temperatures bending, kneeling, twisting, and climbing to perform duties. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and electricity. Employees may be exposed to communicable diseases while completing tasks. Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs., climb stairs, climb storage ladders up to 150 ft. in height, work effectively at that height, and open access hatches. Employee communicates with other employees and the public, as necessary.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Ability to read operator's manuals, blueprints, and schematics to maintain electrical, SCADA and control equipment throughout the Utilities Department in good working order. Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems ranging from 24VDC to 600 VAC. Skill in the operation of electrical and mechanical hand and power tools. Employees must perform mathematical calculations to determine electrical needs. Skill in writing to record results and track work. Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Will be on-call nights and weekends.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification
High school diploma or equivalent required, plus two years of experience. A valid Texas driver's license is required. Must also Obtain a valid state of Texas class "C" or above wastewater license. About the company
