Job Description Performs intermediate technical work conducting chemical and microbiological examinations and analysis of raw and treated water or of wastewater at various stages of treatment. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.
The hiring range for this position is from $26.04/hour to $35.81/hour based on experience. The full salary range for this position is from $26.04/hour to $45.57/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development. Examples of Duties
Performs physical and chemical tests on water and wastewater samples and industrial wastes; Prepares and maintains laboratory equipment and solutions; Creates and maintains records and files with accuracy; Verifies data and enters results into Information Management system; Performs routine physical and chemical analyses of wastewater for B.O.D., solids, phosphorus, nitrogen, pH, D.O. and other parameters; Conducts analysis of drinking water for such characteristics as total and fecal coliform bacteria and heterotrophic plate counts; Maintains bench sheets from various tests, analyzes data, and compiles summaries; Notifies Laboratory Manager and Plant personnel when test results are outside target ranges; Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of chemistry and microbiology; General knowledge of the operation and care of specialized laboratory equipment; Skill in laboratory manipulative techniques and in following and adapting scientific methods and procedures; Ability to make a variety of laboratory tests of water and wastewater samples.
Education and Experience A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and 4 years of experience in laboratory testing procedures, or a bachelor's degree in a science field, with laboratory coursework. Please for our full-time benefits.
