JOB TITLE: LVN CHARGE NURSEJOB CODE: 22DEPARTMENT: NURSINGFLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF NURSING JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices, regulations, and directed by the Director of Nursing. The Charge Nurse will lead or direct licensed and non-professional staff in the delivery of direct Resident care and support functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provide the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients in the unitMake nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employeesMaintain acceptable standards of patient careIdentify problems and guides personnel to their solutionCreate a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnelAccurately and promptly implement physicians' ordersSupport and enforce infection-control policies and proceduresUse system to convey/receive resident informationMaintain a professional approach with confidentialityCooperate and maintain good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitorsObtain and document nursing history from the patient and/or significant other that is comprehensive of present condition and prior problemsPerform basic assessment of the patient, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathologyRecord vital signs, note changes, and pursue more-specific investigation as neededAssess for and notify physician and other appropriate parties of changes in conditionUse assessment information to develop a care plan before the end of duty time that communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the patient Use care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patientsConsistently follow established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing careAccept accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of nonprofessional personnelCommunicate with the patient and his or her family and other members of the health care team in carrying out the goals of the care planPerform competently those technical skills considered basic to the type of care given in that unitRespond appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situationsSupport standards of nursing care through adherence to existing policies and proceduresSeek guidance when encountering nursing procedures and responsibilities that have not been mastered Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situationsUse appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all timesUnderstand and adhere to the guidelines of "Residents Rights" and assure resident safetyRequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:RequiredCurrent LVN licenseCPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certifiedAbility to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in EnglishAbility to complete assignments in a timely mannerAbility to be flexible and positive with intermittent interruptionsPreferred:2 years nursing experience in long term care/skilled nursingPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned, including some weekends, evenings and holidays WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clinical Caraday Healthcare provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other characteristic protected by law.
