$ 22.11 - $28.32/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications Benefits:
Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance with five different plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, voluntary insurance options, and a supplemental life program. Employees are entitled to sick time, vacation time, bereavement days, holidays, and longevity pay. Flexible spending accounts (FSA) or healthcare savings accounts (HSA) are available based on the elected medical plan. Additionally, retirement savings plans are provided through the State of Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS). These benefits are available after just one full day of employment.

ROLE AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Responsible for assisting the physical therapist in the assigned area of responsibility to administer treatment programs for students. Performs direct treatment for students under the direction of a licensed physical therapist in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by a physician. Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Assists the physical therapist with student evaluations and the development of progress reports related to prescribed physical therapy treatment. Assists the physical therapist in the development of written individual education plans as well as physical therapy goals and objectives for students. Performs direct physical therapy treatment on students per the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. Assists the physical therapist in the accurate maintenance of records of physical therapy treatment procedures as prescribed for each student. Assists the physical therapist in the identification of physical therapy instruction needs to be coordinated between the physical therapy center and the classroom teacher/paraprofessional. Assists the physical therapist in the development of an on-going physical therapy program to be carried out by teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents. Reviews physical therapy treatment goals and student progress related to treatment on a monthly basis. Travels to and from district sites, locations, and Project CHOICE classrooms as assigned by the program administrator. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
Communicates with parents/guardians and staff as directed by the licensed physical therapist regarding physical therapy procedures for students. Assists the licensed physical therapist, building administrator, and staff in planning and implementation of behavior management procedures for students as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma/equivalent required. Certification from and approved program for physical therapist assistants required. Recommended by a college or university offering an appropriate training program as approved by the state board of education.
Experience: Two years of experience working with special education students preferred.
Skills/Other: Ability to accept supervision and direction. Ability to work creatively and skillfully with students, parents/guardians, and staff. Evidence of good oral and written communications skills. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Exhibit emotional stability necessary to meet the essential job duties. Demonstrate the physical stamina necessary for lifting and moving special education students ages 0-26 years, for implementing the physical requirements identified in meeting individual student health care needs and/or district administrative operating procedures, and for performing the essential job duties. Ability to function as a team member in the physical therapy/educational setting. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year. Represents the district in a professional manner at all times. Exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
