Main Sail is seeking a Software Developer to support a nuclear manufacturing client. This role involves hands-on software development and database optimization within a complex enterprise environment. The developer will contribute to the enhancement, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing and quality-management systems, working across both Microsoft (primarily) and Oracle platforms and engaging in backlog development tasks in Visual Studio.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain software components using Microsoft Visual Studio (preferably VB.Net), with a focus on user interface updates and business logic enhancements. - Write, optimize, and refactor SQL queries across both MS SQL Server and Oracle databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability. - Analyze and troubleshoot application issues, performing root cause analysis and recommending effective solutions. - Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and system owners to validate functional and technical requirements. - Contribute to continuous integration and automated testing workflows within Visual Studio. - Support deployment and configuration activities across environments, coordinating with system and application administrators.
Experience: - 6+ years of professional experience in .NET software development, past experience supporting manufacturing or quality systems is a plus but not mandatory. - Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, SQL scripting, and knowledge of Oracle platforms, including query optimization and stored procedures. - Proficiency in Visual Studio, with .NET and VB.Net experience
Location:
50% Remote, 50% On site at client facility in Lynchburg VA (alternating weeks)
Period of Performance:
Starts ASAP, duration 12+ months with extensions possible.
