Position Summary: The Intake Specialist assists patients in accessing benefits and securing insurance authorizations while delivering exceptional customer service. This role operates within established policies and procedures and follows standard precedents. Essential Functions:

Communicate with patients to gather demographic information necessary for prescription processing. Investigate and verify pharmacy and medical benefits for third-party claims; work with drug manufacturers' financial assistance teams as needed. Communicate patient financial responsibilities clearly before therapy begins. Obtain prior authorizations by initiating requests, submitting required documentation, tracking progress, and expediting responses from payers. Monitor and escalate service delays related to authorizations or financial assistance to avoid interruptions in patient therapy. Coordinate with nursing agencies to ensure patient appointments align with insurance authorizations. Relay clinical questions to pharmacy or nursing teams and assist with appropriate follow-up or patient education referrals. Foster strong business relationships with prescribers, Sales Representatives, and patients to promote customer loyalty. Perform other related duties as assigned. Competencies:

Strong telephone-based customer service and relationship-building skills. Excellent organizational and case management capabilities. In-depth knowledge of insurance benefit investigation techniques. Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems; ability to adapt to pharmacy software platforms. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Education & Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required; additional training in pharmacy/medical benefit access is strongly preferred. Minimum of 1 year of healthcare customer service experience, preferably in an infusion pharmacy setting with benefit access knowledge. Benefits Overview
