Description of Work *** This is a readvertisement. All previous applicants DO NOT have to reapply to be considered. ***

The Budget and Finance Division is responsible for all business affairs of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. The Commodities Assessments Section collects inspection fees for 4 commodities and collects assessments for 18 commodity associations.

The primary purpose of this position is to collect agricultural fees and assessments while interpreting and enforcing NC General Statutes that support Plant Industry, Agronomics, and Food and Drug Protection Divisions.

This position will be responsible for making all deposits, month end reconciliation, and cooperating with department auditor to determine taxpayer compliance. Also, this position provides support to collect assessments for 18 commodity associations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines and resolve problems and questions. Experience with applying accounting principles and/or audit standards. Experience collecting and reporting data. Prefer strong skills in basic computer applications and experience with handling cash and properly depositing funds. Skills in organizing workflow, coordinating activities, working independently and within tight deadlines.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both. Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supplemental and Contact Information
