Artificial Intelligence (AI) Performance Engineer job description
As an AI Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing the performance, scalability, and efficiency of AI systems and infrastructure. You will work at the intersection of AI workloads, systems engineering, hardware platforms, and software development to ensure that AI models and pipelines run efficiently in production environments.
Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement performance-optimized AI solutions tailored to business and technical requirements. • Profile and benchmark machine learning models and AI pipelines to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. • Optimize model inference speed, memory usage, and compute efficiency across various hardware platforms (CPU, GPU, TPU). • Develop and maintain scalable, high-throughput data pipelines and model serving infrastructure. • Monitor system performance and implement automated tools for performance regression detection and alerting • Skills & Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus. • Programming: Strong proficiency in Python. Experience with performance profiling tools (e.g., nvtop, VTune, NVIDIA Nsight, PyTorch Profiler, PerfSpect, ). • AI/ML Expertise: Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning concepts, with hands-on experience using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or ONNX. • Performance Engineering: Experience with model quantization, pruning, distillation, and hardware-aware optimization. • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with distributed systems, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Operating Systems, Networking. • Data Engineering: Experience building and optimizing data pipelines using tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar. • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify performance issues.
