Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced
Virtualization Engineer
to join our infrastructure and cloud operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying, administering, and maintaining a robust virtualization environment, including VMware ESXi, VxRail, VMware Horizon, NSX, vCenter, and vRealize Operations/Automation. This role involves supporting day-to-day operations, troubleshooting system issues, implementing advanced features, and ensuring high availability and performance of virtual infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and administer virtualization platforms, including: VMware ESXi (versions 5.x to 8.0) VxRail hyper-converged infrastructure VMware Horizon (VDI) vRealize Operations and Automation NSX, vSphere, and vCenter Perform advanced VMware management tasks such as: HA (High Availability), DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler), SDRS (Storage DRS), and cluster management Migrations and upgrades of hypervisor environments Analyze system logs from vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines to identify and resolve root causes of performance or stability issues Configure and troubleshoot storage systems and replication technologies in support of virtual environments Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions using platforms such as Veeam, Avamar, or Isilon Work collaboratively with network, storage, and systems engineering teams to ensure infrastructure alignment and reliability Monitor capacity, performance, and system health using VMware and third-party tools Required Qualifications:
Proven experience with VMware ESXi versions 5.x through 8.0, vCenter, and vSphere Hands-on experience with VxRail and VMware Horizon Strong understanding of vRealize Operations and Automation components Working knowledge of VMware NSX for network virtualization Familiarity with HA, DRS, SDRS, VM migrations, clustering, and other advanced virtualization features Proficient in analyzing logs and identifying system-level issues within vCenter, ESXi, and VMs Experience with storage replication and SAN/NAS configuration and support Experience with at least one backup solution: Veeam, Avamar, or Isilon Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Preferred Qualifications:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or related certifications Experience in enterprise or hybrid cloud environments Familiarity with PowerCLI or automation scripting
