Fairview is hiring a pharmacy student, to join Fairview's intern program!

Our Retail Pharmacy intern provides services related to the field of pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist for Fairview Pharmacy in Edina (Retail pharmacy in Southdale Hospital).

Location

: 6401 France Ave SL-1 (inside Southdale Hospital), Edina MN

Hours

: Rotating weekends (pharmacy is open 8-4 Saturday and Sunday)

Schedule

: day/evening

Vaccination administration

Counsel/educate patients

Leadership/management roles

Personal/Professional development

Entering prescriptions into computer database

Dispensing medications

Assisting clients at the cash register

Working with insurance companies

Contacting referring physicians' offices with questions over prescription

Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.

Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.

Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.

Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and compounding.

Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.

Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.

Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.

Required

Completion of a 1st year Pharm.d program (intern status in MN)

Current enrollment in a Pharm.d program

Experience

Previous pharmacy experience is not required, but preferred.

License/Certification/Registration

Registered Intern with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
