Senior Network Solutions Architect

to play a pivotal role in supporting large-scale operations for a significant DOD contract. The I3TS program is committed to providing comprehensive IT support, aiming to innovate and modernize DTRA's IT services and mission capabilities for both internal and external partners. The Senior Network Solutions Architect will take charge of enhancing the current infrastructure while deploying new, optimized capabilities for DTRA. This role encompasses defining technical requirements, conducting feasibility studies, overseeing pilot projects, and implementation plans. Additionally, you will be responsible for diagnosing outages, monitoring networks, and proactively implementing mitigation strategies. Primary Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate network operations engineering teams (Tier I-III) to ensure effective troubleshooting efforts. Oversee real-time monitoring of global enterprise networks using DoD-approved tools (e.g., SolarWinds, NetOps, Splunk, ACAS). Develop and enforce operational procedures, incident response workflows, and escalation protocols. Act as the senior technical point of contact for major outages, network events, or cybersecurity incidents. Communicate with mission partners, DISA, Joint Forces, and Combatant Commands on network status and operational impacts. Ensure compliance with configuration management (CM) and DoD Change Advisory Board (CAB) procedures for all network changes. Prepare and deliver operational briefs, after-action reports (AARs), and executive summaries to leadership. Design and implement secure network solutions to streamline connectivity services under an enterprise model. Develop secure wide area connectivity focusing on performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements. Provide secure access solutions utilizing both wired and wireless technologies while developing related implementation plans. Integrate capacity planning and scaling of network and security environments into overall design solutions. Identify and develop optimization strategies and techniques to enhance network performance and capacity standards. Analyze legacy service paths and strategize for effective transition to new enterprise capabilities while ensuring security and maintainability. Support the development of IP addressing schemes across both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Collaborate with information assurance teams to ensure compliance with DoD standards and provide necessary accreditation documentation. Work across various infrastructure elements including networking, security, storage, virtualization, and servers to enhance service delivery. Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (preferred) with 12+ years of experience or Master's degree with 10+ years of experience. Network certification meeting or exceeding CCNA or equivalent vendor certification. Active DoD IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) certification required before start. Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance and be eligible for a Top Secret clearance. Experience in documenting network designs using tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, or similar to depict IT applications and infrastructure. Skilled in conducting technical troubleshooting to resolve complex network issues. Experience in conducting site surveys or analyzing site survey data. Background in creating or executing migration plans for circuits, network traffic, or data to commercial cloud providers. Broad exposure to I/T infrastructure networking, including LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, Proxies, Routing (L2/L3), and Firewalls. Experience with at least two of the following vendor network technologies: Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Brocade, and Fortinet. Proven experience designing and implementing medium to large network infrastructures and producing technical documentation. Able to collaborate within a team environment to effectively troubleshoot and resolve complex network challenges. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including drafting SOPs and technical documentation. Ability to communicate technical matters to executive leadership, ensuring clarity and understanding of significant issues. Proficient in presenting designs and plans for approval to technical leadership and boards. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification. Experience with enterprise network management tools such as SolarWinds, MECM, or similar. Hands-on experience with WAN, LAN, telecommunications, and circuit management. Expertise in designing and improving complex, geographically dispersed enterprise networks. Thorough understanding of DoD security requirements for network infrastructure. Experience in hardening network infrastructure to meet DoD STIG implementation requirements. Familiarity with reporting and business applications like Power BI, SharePoint, and SQL.
