The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As a custodian, you will be responsible for the following:
Clean, mop, disinfect, and sweep the assigned area daily.
Decontaminates patient rooms, restrooms, and isolation rooms that contain biohazard wastes such as blood, urine, feces, and used needles. Dispose of infectious waste.
Strips, buffs, waxes, and disinfects floors regularly using required industrial machinery.
Mix the cleaning solution to the proper concentrations necessary for various tasks.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Custodian 1, 2, or 3.
Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $3.00 per hour.
