The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) at Leidos is on the lookout for a motivated and skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. We specialize in developing cutting-edge technology solutions tailored for various maritime missions, serving clients across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and commercial sectors.
In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to create embedded firmware and software for critical applications, including maritime control systems and the integration of autonomy for unmanned systems. You will play a key part in developing and demonstrating advanced ocean sensor systems and integrating them with both manned and unmanned maritime platforms.
This position allows for a flexible work environment with up to 25% telework availability. Travel may be required to collaborate with teams at other Leidos and government facilities across the United States and potentially the United Kingdom. Your initial focus will be on supporting various US Navy programs.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Develop and test PLC and HMI applications, serving as crucial integration points for various ship systems.
Engage in software engineering tasks including interface design, system integration, code reviews, and thorough software testing.
Assist in the integration of subsystems and provide on-site support for completed systems.
Conduct research and development activities in a lab, in the field, or even at sea.
Support scientific measurements and assist in creating detailed test plans, procedures, and reports.
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering from an accredited institution with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with PLCs or other microcontrollers, networking, and GUI development.
Hands-on experience in PLC testing and debugging using vendor IDEs and open-source tools.
Familiarity with embedded development in Linux and C/C++.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
A willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance; US Citizenship is a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Python, Structured Text, Rockwell PLCs, STIGs, Siemens PLCs, Git, and Atlassian Tools.
Initial focus will be supporting various US Navy programs such as the Ghost Fleet in San Diego and Port Hueneme, CA.
