New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 55 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation's donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves nearly 15 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $140M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 378 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

Job Description
The Senior System Administrator is responsible for implementing, enhancing, documenting, and maintaining NEDS's server and network systems, as well as specialized enterprise applications and locally deployed network infrastructure. This role involves direct engagement with 3rd party vendors and end-users, providing frontline support for server and endpoint operating systems, enterprise business applications, security tools, webservers, laptops, desktop PCs, and other input devices. The engineer will work with other IS Department members to serve the organization at the highest levels.
FOCUS AREAS/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
:
Technical and Administrative: Implement, and maintain virtual and network infrastructure, including processing, storage, cabling, and patch panels. Administer all server operating systems and maintain enterprise applications through routine patching. Monitor SQL performance, stored procedures, disk space, tables, and data flow. Configure and maintain firewalls, perimeter security devices, and information security-based hardware/software. Implement and support image deployment technology for rapid setup of end-user laptops and desktops. Provide first-line troubleshooting on end-user devices and manage the ticketing system for support issues. Support the roll-out of new end-user software and system management tools. Manage, test, and verify backups of critical servers, documenting regular testing of backups both onsite and remote. Oversee support of on-premises applications including Exchange and SharePoint, and manage the Microsoft 365 tenant including Azure AD, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Teams. Coordinate support of the telecom system and NEDS phone system and voice mail. Strategic and Analytical:
Analyze daily performance and health of locally managed networks and specialized business systems. Collaborate with NEDS departments to develop new solutions for process/development-related problems and stay current with industry best practices and trends. Recommend new capital infrastructure projects to drive IT strategies and improve organizational workflow. Assist the Manager of Systems Engineering and CIO in developing policies and deploying technologies for the organization's information security program. Participate in a security program and security projects that address identified risks and business security requirements. Conduct network, system, and application vulnerability scanning, configuration assessment, and remediation. Review, analyze, prioritize, and resolve security alerts from Fortinet, Microsoft 365 Security Center, or other SIEMs. Ensure employees and third parties understand, acknowledge, and fulfill all applicable information security policies. Review and improve security policies, controls, and incident response planning. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Data Analysis : Ability to collect, analyze, and present data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships among variables. Knowledge of current security threats and how they would affect the organization with the ability to create a secure access plan.
Project Management Skills : Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and utilize time-management skills to meet deadlines.
Computer & Application Literacy : Proficient with Microsoft Server Operating Systems (2008 R2 and newer), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Windows Failover Clustering. Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange (2010 SP3 and newer), Microsoft SharePoint (2013 and newer), Microsoft SQL (2008R2 and newer), and VMWare virtualization software (5.5 and newer). Proficient with Microsoft end-user products (Windows 10/11, M365 apps, Teams, OneDrive).

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to critically think, problem solve, and work productively both independently and as a team participant. Skilled in active listening and proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required. 4-6 years of experience with workstations, fileservers, routers, switches, disaster recovery and virtual architecture Background in Science/Bio Tech or Healthcare strongly preferred This will be a Hybrid role and will require 2 days a week in the Waltham Office.
