Our dynamic and growing insurance agency is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst to join our team. The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our business needs and technology solutions. This individual will be responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, gathering and documenting requirements, and supporting the implementation of solutions that enhance efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction within our agency. A strong understanding of the insurance industry, including agency operations, insurance products, and regulatory requirements, is highly desirable.
Performance Expectations/Responsibilities Requirements Elicitation & Documentation:
Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments (e.g., sales, underwriting, claims, customer service, finance) to elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for new systems, system enhancements, and process improvements. Process Analysis & Improvement:
Analyze current business processes ("as-is") and work with stakeholders to define optimized future state processes ("to-be"). Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement through technology or procedural changes. Data Analysis & Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business decisions. Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and project progress. Solution Design & Evaluation:
Work with IT and business teams to translate business requirements into functional specifications and proposed solutions. Evaluate potential software solutions and vendors, considering factors like cost, functionality, and integration capabilities. Stakeholder Management & Communication:
Act as a liaison between business users, IT teams, and external vendors. Effectively communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations. Testing & Quality Assurance:
Develop test plans, test cases, and participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure that solutions meet business requirements and quality standards. Project Support:
Assist project managers in defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Track project progress, identify risks and issues, and contribute to their resolution. Industry Knowledge & Compliance:
Stay current with insurance industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes (e.g., data privacy, compliance standards) and assess their impact on agency operations and systems. System Support & Training:
Provide support for existing agency management systems (AMS) and other business applications. Assist in the development and delivery of training materials for end-users. Compensation & Benefits

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 5 + years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within an insurance agency or the broader insurance industry (e.g., P&C, Life & Health). Proven experience in requirements gathering, process mapping (e.g., using Visio or similar tools), and business process re-engineering. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear and concise documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI). Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). Familiarity with insurance agency management systems (e.g., Vertafore, Applied Systems) is a strong plus. Understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, claims processing, and agency workflows. Experience in writing business requirements for CRM systems and SharePoint implementations. Preferred Skills
Professional certification such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA (PMI Professional in Business Analysis). Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment. Knowledge of data modeling concepts. Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar project tracking and collaboration tools. Understanding of emerging technologies in the insurance industry (Insurtech, AI, RPA). Knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc..) is a plus Work Environment/Physical Demands
Extended periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer and other office equipment. Repetitive motion tasks, such as typing, data entry, and phone use. Occasional lifting of files or other materials, typically weighing up to 20 pounds. Ability to move freely around the office space to collaborate with colleagues or access office resources. Visual acuity to read documents, screens, and fine print on documents. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and handle paperwork efficiently. Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail in a sometimes fast paced and multitasking environment. The office environment typically has a moderate noise level consistent with a professional office setting. Some travel may be required for this position, primarily for attending training sessions, conferences, or meetings with clients or stakeholders. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be necessary for travel to off-site locations.
