Description
Join our Cybersecurity and Digital Risk (CDR) team to help us also lead the airline industry in cyber-safety. United’s CDR team is tasked with keeping our customers’ and employees’ information safe and secure. Our primary mission is to embed cybersecurity into the DNA of United Airlines by reducing business risk through implementation of strong cybersecurity standards.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Engineer – Cloud Cybersecurity focuses on efforts to mature the third-party security assessment program at United Airlines, as part of a cross-disciplinary Cyber team. In this role the Engineer will work on the creation and maintenance of the third-party risk assessment platform and partner with product, platform, engineering, and operations teams to ensure the adoption of security best practices across the entire lifecycle. The role with help continuously improves the third-party risk assessment framework and associated playbooks, workflows, processes, and procedures.
Enhance cybersecurity team accomplishments and competencies by planning the delivery of solutions and answering technical questions
Determine Third party cybersecurity requirements by evaluating business strategies, pain points, and use cases
Plan, research, and design robust Third-Party cybersecurity architectures
Regularly communicate vital information, security needs and priorities to upper management
Remain up to date with the latest security systems, standards, authentication protocols, and products
Design cybersecurity architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge. Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats
Define, implement, and maintain corporate security policies, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of related experience or successful completion of ECDLP / Cyber Rotational Program
Ability to develop and maintain analytics dashboards to monitor cloud security metrics and performance indicators.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Working knowledge of fundamental security concepts and best practices
Basic understanding of network security and firewall configuration
Working knowledge of using scripting languages for task automation
Ability to work independently and self-motivate
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, interpersonal, collaboration, written and verbal communication skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
CISSP, CCNA, AWS Certified Security - Specialty and/or AWS Certified Solution Architect - Associate, CCSP, or CEH
4+ years in a technical role

The base pay range for this role is $87,780.00 to $119,680.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
