Job Title: Cath Lab Tech Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum one year experience as a Registered Diagnostic Technologist required. License: Registration by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) required or registry eligible. Certifications: BLS certification required. ACLS certification required. Must-Have: Epic experience required. Travel experience required. Description: The Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological assessment, diagnosis, and therapy. Works under the direction of a radiologist. Assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and others to capture images of blood vessels and treat organ-system diseases. Performs diagnostic procedures, including vascular access assessments, vascular diagnostic procedures, and vascular interventional procedures. Prepares patients for exams and administers prescribed medications and contrast media according to provider orders. Demonstrates knowledge of IV therapy techniques and maintenance. Takes appropriate precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients. Confirms that pertinent forms are complete for procedures. Ensures documentation is complete and accurate in all systems. Monitors and records all procedural data. Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating quality management programs for Special Procedures and Diagnostic Radiology. Demonstrates equipment and procedure competency during call-back procedures. Maintains, cleans, and restocks assigned rooms and notifies supervisor of unavailable supplies. Works efficiently to ensure no backlogs of work or undue delays in patient flow. Operates equipment and technology safely and properly. Reports problems or malfunctions to supervisor. Demonstrates a willingness to assist wherever needed. Has an understanding that shifts may need to be altered due to workload or staffing. Assists with instruction of new teammates and student technologists. May function as In-Charge Technologist in the absence of the supervisor, assigning or instructing other technologists and/or students. Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements. Actively participates in staff meetings and on committees as requested. Participates in performance improvement activities. Promotes a professional demeanor, establishes high standards of customer service, supports responsibility, pride, and teamwork, remains calm under pressure, and offers reasonable solutions to problems. Demonstrates appropriate interaction with and provides recommended care and services to all patients. Exhibits knowledge regarding the needs of various patient age groups and cultural needs of all patients. Applies knowledge of principles of standard precautions and routinely uses PPE to avoid risk of exposure.
