Business Application Developer And Support Specialist

This role provides support for specific applications for the business unit. The primary responsibility is application development, maintenance and support of Entergy's Finance and HR Applications. This includes Peoplesoft, PowerPlan, Onesource, UI Planner and custom application support, for the Finance and HR Business Units. Job duties include providing operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours on-call support. Learn and understand Finance and HR operations business needs and objectives; recommend and design applications and implement enhancements that meet customer business needs. Provide and maintain real time systems application availability, ensuring that applications are active and operating as defined in any Service Level Agreements. Troubleshooting and debugging of custom and vendor applications. Support the design, development, and testing of real time system applications and enhancements. Provide an interface with software vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party Finance/HR Application systems. Work with business owners to maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data. Minimum education required of the position is a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Minimum experience required of the position is as follows: IT Specialist I: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree and 0-2 years of experience with relevant technology delivery is required OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree 4+ years of experience with relevant technology delivery. IT Specialist II: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree and 2+ years of experience with relevant technology delivery is required OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree 4+ years of experience with relevant technology delivery. IT Specialist Sr: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree and 4+ years of experience with relevant technology delivery is required OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree 6+ years of experience with relevant technology delivery. IT Consultant: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree and 6+ years of experience with relevant technology delivery is required. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position include proficiency in most of the following languages: C#, VB, MS SQL, Oracle, SQL, Java, JavaScript, VBScript, PowerBuilder, and Perl. Event driven object-oriented skills. Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to support systems including 3rd party integrations in a fast-paced environment. Ability to support cyber security activities such as, system hardening, patch management, and configuration management. Ability to support multiple Windows environments over a large network and troubleshooting Web-Service's and Windows Service's. Knowledge of security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments. Ability to troubleshoot Windows and or Unix Operating Systems and correct issues. Ability to critically analyze an issue with other team members and come to the most reasonable and least impactful direction. Understand client business needs & objectives. Demonstrated track record of relevant technology delivery. Highly motivated and ability to work with little direct supervision. Ability to implement process improvements where needed to streamline process workflow without being requested by business.
