GIS Specialist
The Vermont Association of Conservation Districts (VACD) is hiring a full-time GIS Specialist to work with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) in Vermont. The position involves using geospatial imaging to assist with conservation planning and other work performed by NRCS and Vermont's conservation districts. The GIS Specialist will assist with emergency response, provide training on GIS software and techniques, and offer technical support. Typical Duties And Responsibilities: Design, develop and implement systems and databases for geospatial data Develop and maintain geospatial data on desktop and mobile applications Ensure data meets appropriate data accuracy and content standards for quality assurance and quality control Standardize geographic data Research and conduct tests on new tools Build, update, and maintain database, GIS software, and hardware Administer and troubleshoot applications and GIS solutions Preferred Qualifications: Experience using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, or another web mapping system Experience using AutoCAD and DWG files Knowledge of multiple programming languages Strong team player Outstanding critical thinking skills Location: Hybrid position with work required in the NRCS Office in Colchester, VT.
