Position Overview
International's Systems Architecture team develops system level requirements for a collection of vehicle functions, as well as defines electrical power, vehicle network, functional and communications architecture constructs.
The Technical Specialist, Power Architecture, will be the principal engineer responsible for developing low voltage electrical power requirements documentation for International vehicles; including, but not limited to, low voltage power structures, power budgets, system definition, function allocation, and system-level technical support.
This position can be located at International's design centers in Lisle, Illinois, Rochester Hills, MI, or Elmendorf, TX. Occasional support may also be required at International's test and production facilities, as well as occasional onsite support at suppliers and customers.
In April 2023, TRATON embarked on an ambitious journey to integrate independent brand Research & Development (R&D) Organizations in Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus into a single global TRATON R&D organization.
By integrating the capabilities and resources of our brands, we will accelerate the introduction of new technologies and solutions to deliver the most competitive products and solutions to our customers.
We currently have a great opportunity for a Technical Specialist-Power Architecure on our TRATON USA's R&D Team.
Responsibilities
Development of low voltage power system specifications and requirements, including functional requirements, power budgets, and power structures
Lead development of system FMEA documentation
Definition of and participation in execution of system test processes
Problem solving and implementing solutions to hardware and control software issues
Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, technical knowledge capture, process improvements etc.
Mentor less experienced engineers
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
Significant background in and knowledge of low voltage vehicle power architectures
Experience with requirement documentation and system engineering
Experience with Vehicle Control System design

Embedded hardware design and development experience
CAN and/or J1939 development and debugging experience
