Job Summary/Basic Function

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and a member of the enrollment management leadership team, the Director of Admissions will oversee a staff of eight. The Director is responsible for achieving both the annual and long-range strategic enrollment management goals and assists in the development of marketing and communication strategies. Additional responsibilities include developing and executing the comprehensive recruitment plan for the University and collaborating closely with all campus constituencies, including marketing and communication, faculty, Financial Aid, Student Affairs and Registrar, to ensure attainment of recruitment goals. The Director will participate directly in recruitment activities, which include travel, public presentations, application review, scholarship awards, and correspondence. The Director must remain up to date on best practices in the field of strategic enrollment management, which will require researching and updating admissions practices, policies, and technology as needed. The Director prepares a variety of reports and data concerning admissions, recruitment and general office management and performs other duties as needed or assigned by the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education admissions or enrollment management. Proven record of successful strategic planning and execution in student recruitment. Strong data analysis skills and experience using CRM and SIS systems (e.g., Slate, TargetX, Banner, or similar). Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education, public administration, business, or a related field. Experience at a public or regional university. Familiarity with the demographics and educational landscape of the region. The successful candidates should possess both depth and breadth of experience with a record of success in building partnerships and strategic relationships both within and outside their organization.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duties Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Develop and implement annual recruitment plans and territory management strategies to meet enrollment targets for first-year, transfer, and special populations. Supervise and mentor a team of admissions professionals, including assistant/associate directors, counselors, and support staff. Oversee the evaluation of undergraduate applications. Use data-informed decision making to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives and adapt strategies as needed. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop print, digital, and social media campaigns that support undergraduate recruitment. Coordinate on-campus and virtual events, including open houses, information sessions, and counselor outreach. Establish and maintain strong relationships with high school counselors, community college advisors, and other external partners. Serve on university-wide committees related to admissions, enrollment, and student success. Stay current on national and regional trends in admissions and enrollment management. Manage departmental budget and ensure effective use of resources.
