The CUNY Office of Careers & Industry Partnerships (OCIP) is dedicated to the mission of connecting academic pursuits with career competitiveness. OCIP works closely with industry to understand the skills required for the most in-demand jobs and trains CUNY students in those skills to prepare them for early and sustained career success.

The Practitioners in Residence Corps (PiRC) is an initiative fostering student career success by bringing practitioners into CUNY classrooms to teach the skills and share insights that are in-demand and essential to building career growth.

OCIP is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Program Manager to lead the expansion of the PiRC into the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector. Reporting to the Assistant Director of OCIP and working closely with the Lead Program Manager, this role will be instrumental in building and managing relationships with industry leaders, aligning academic offerings with evolving workforce needs, and supporting the integration of Healthcare and Life Sciences sector professionals into CUNY classrooms as well as career-connected learning activities.

The Program Manager will collaborate with CUNY faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders to create applied, industry-informed learning experiences that increase student career readiness across a range of health-related disciplines. This includes clinical, research, public health, biotech, health tech, and healthcare operations roles.

Other Duties

Program Development & Management – 50%

Design, launch, and manage a healthcare and life sciences-focused Practitioners in Residence Corps program in alignment with OCIP goals and campus needs

Establish and continuously refine processes for recruiting, onboarding, training, supporting, and evaluating health sector professionals serving as instructors

Identify relevant courses and curriculum needs across participating campuses and align them with current and emerging roles in the health and life sciences ecosystem

Track program progress and industry developments, producing data-informed reports and insights on performance, reach, and trends

Collaborate closely with teams to ensure that data is collected, clean, and consistent

Contribute to external stakeholder/funder reporting

Communication & Partnerships – 40%

Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with healthcare employers, professional associations, and related stakeholders across NYC

Create compelling recruitment, onboarding, and engagement materials tailored for health sector professionals

Represent OCIP at industry and campus events, contributing to high-level presentations, convenings, and stakeholder reports

Serve as a liaison between campuses and external partners, facilitating effective collaboration and stakeholder feedback loops

Other – 10%

Participate in internal meetings, professional development, and team planning sessions

Contribute to cross-sector projects and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required

Foundational knowledge and/or demonstrated experience in healthcare and life sciences, with ability to build networks across subsectors within the industry such as healthcare technology, healthcare operations, biopharma, services, public health and more

3–5 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years in externally-facing roles involving collaboration with industry partners, employers, government entities, or academic stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to engage, coordinate, and mobilize diverse stakeholders—including faculty, employers, and students—toward shared goals

Strong customer service orientation and experience serving diverse communities and constituencies with professionalism and care

A strong sense of ownership, integrity, and accountability in driving impact

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team; highly adaptable with strong time management and decision-making skills

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize complex information clearly for diverse audiences

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and common productivity platforms (e.g., Airtable, Asana, CRM tools, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the CUNY system or other large public education systems; understanding of academic program structures and cultures

Experience in healthcare workforce development, experiential learning initiatives, or cross-sector partnerships

Proven success in designing, launching, and managing programs or initiatives from planning through implementation and continuous improvement

Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making and improve program performance

Experience designing processes and systems for scalability and sustainability

Ability to think strategically and tactically; comfortable with problem-solving in ambiguous or evolving contexts

Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of metrics frameworks and performance measurement tools

Deep alignment with and commitment to OCIP’s mission connecting academic pursuits with career competitiveness

Physical Requirements

This position is located in a professional office environment and is currently hybrid, working 70% in person (7 days) in office and 30% remote (3 days) during every two-week payroll cycle. Laptop and other equipment may be provided if needed to support working remotely

While performing these duties, the employee is required to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting items (up to 20 pounds), bending, reaching, sitting for prolonged periods of time. About the Research Foundation

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) is a nonprofit educational corporation founded in 1963 to provide post-award fiscal and administrative support for CUNY’s research and sponsored programs. RFCUNY’s services allow CUNY researchers, faculty, and staff to focus on their intellectual curiosity and scientific discoveries, on projects and programs that serve our local and global communities, proposing concrete solutions to society’s most pressing challenges.

RFCUNY serves as a fiscal agent and works closely with all the CUNY campus Grants Offices to perform the core functions of post-award financial management for CUNY research projects and sponsored programs. These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
