Essential Functions

The Tool Inspector is responsible for the inspection, verification, and documentation of manufacturing tools and fixtures used in the fabrication and assembly of composite aircraft structures. This role ensures that tooling conforms to engineering drawings, specifications, and calibration requirements to maintain production quality and compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements.

Duties:

Determine all standard and custom fixturing required for inspection.

Inspect and verify precision tools, jigs, molds, and fixtures used in the production of composite aircraft components.

Collaborate with various departments to maintain schedule though value stream.

Manage multiple tasks while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine inspection criteria.

Conduct periodic and preventive inspections on tools to ensure dimensional accuracy, integrity, and usability.

Tooling inspection and PTI schedule management.

Document inspection results and generate nonconformance reports (NCRs) when tooling fails to meet specifications.

Maintain calibration records and ensure all tools are within their calibration cycle.

Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Interprets geometric dimensioning and tolerancing specifications.

Performs 1st piece, last piece, and in-process inspection checks.

Evaluates nonconforming material to determine final disposition.

Provides support to Manufacturing Engineering and other business units.

Working experience with ANSI Y14.5 GD&T

CMM programming, editing and operation using PC-DMIS and Spatial Analyzer

Capable of performing inspections using engineering models to determine compliance using CMMs, Leica laser tracker, T-Scanner and FARO / Romer arms and various gauging methods.

Experience with automated multi-axis CMM setup, fixturing and operation

Capable of performing alignment, measurement and setup of test articles and equipment.

Ability to train personnel in inspection process and equipment operation.

Functional user of Deltek Cost Point and TIPQA .

Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to composites, resins, and industrial equipment.
