Senior Project Manager

*********THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE IN PEORIA, IL*********** We are seeking a hands-on Senior Project Manager to lead a complex, multi-year legacy modernization program. The initiative focuses on migrating a core line-of-business platform from a mainframe system to a modern technology stack. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in managing large-scale system migrations, driving full project lifecycle delivery, and working closely with vendors and geographically dispersed teams. Key Responsibilities: Drive end-to-end project delivery from initiation through closure for a legacy mainframe migration effort. Manage a cross-functional team, including internal staff and vendor development teams. Collaborate with a vendor Project Manager and ensure timely delivery of all vendor-related workstreams. Lead project planning, execution, timelines, status tracking, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Facilitate Waterfall-based delivery and Scrum ceremonies. Ensure quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) cycles are properly planned, executed, and aligned with overall project milestones. Coordinate with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and cutover processes. Provide clear communication and progress updates to stakeholders and leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of project management experience, including large-scale system/platform migration projects. Strong experience working with vendors, especially in managing deliverables and resolving delays. Proven ability to lead QA/UAT cycles and manage cross-functional testing efforts. Experience with Waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodology. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; hands-on and proactive approach to delivery. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Highly Desired: Insurance industry experience - strongly preferred. It provides significant context for the legacy environment and is highly valued by the client. Experience modernizing core insurance systems or similar regulated enterprise platforms. Location Notes: Candidates local to Peoria, IL are preferred due to the hybrid nature of the role.
