Assistant Director of Engineering

Nashville, TN Full-time | Salary range: $90,000-$93,000 annually, plus a 10% annual performance-based bonus

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to support the leadership of building operations and maintenance at a premier luxury hotel and private residence in Nashville. In this high-impact role, you'll help oversee all systems and services related to property maintenance-including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, preventive maintenance, and overall building integrity. You will lead and mentor a skilled team of engineers while ensuring operations meet the highest quality, safety, and guest service standards.

Key Responsibilities • Assist in managing daily engineering operations and personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. • Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues via the hotel's work order system. • Maintain preventive maintenance programs and monitor critical systems to ensure safety and operational efficiency. • Collaborate with purchasing to maintain proper inventory of tools, parts, and supplies. • Maintain documentation for utilities, life safety equipment, and emergency procedures. • Contribute to energy optimization and sustainability goals. • Enforce compliance with hotel standards and workplace safety policies.

Requirements • Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership experience in a luxury hospitality or high-end residential environment. • Strong knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems. • Trade school diploma or certification in mechanics, HVAC, or refrigeration required. • Operating Engineer license is mandatory. • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and operate digital systems. • Proven team leadership and strong organizational skills. • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
