Data Engineer
looking for a project where your work directly drives financial decisions and business transformation? Join us on a high-priority initiative for a PE-backed manufacturer undergoing a major ERP shift. Your mission: help establish a critical monthly inventory valuation process by unlocking data from a legacy AS400 system.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly visible, hands-on project from the ground up-solving real business problems, working with engaged stakeholders, and setting the stage for long-term modernization. What You'll Do Design & build
an interim data extraction pipeline from a legacy
AS400 (IBM iSeries)
system. Create a
monthly "book of record"
for inventory valuation, enabling financial close and business reporting. Engineer a method to
lock monthly labor and material inputs
for data consistency and audit-readiness. Collaborate directly with finance, ops, and executive stakeholders-no red tape. Set the foundation for
Phase 2 : advanced visualization and ongoing maintenance. What You Bring 8+ years
of experience as a data engineer or technical data consultant. Solid track record of working with
legacy systems , especially
AS400/DB2
(strongly preferred). Strong skills in
ETL pipeline development ,
SQL , and handling structured enterprise data. Comfortable working in fast-paced,
private equity-backed
or high-growth environments. Deep understanding of
inventory valuation ,
cost inputs , or
financial close processes . You're a
self-starter , comfortable owning deliverables and working independently. Tech Environment AS400 / DB2 (preferred), legacy ERPs Python, SQL, Bash/Shell scripting SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake Git or version control workflows Power BI, Tableau (for future phases) Why You'll Love This Role Immediate impact
