12 Months (Contract) Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal UX Designer to lead user-centered design efforts across various digital platforms, including public websites, internal intranet applications, and enterprise tools. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in human-centered design, advanced proficiency in Figma, and a strong focus on accessibility standards.
This role will involve collaborating closely with stakeholders, conducting user research, creating design artifacts, and ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards throughout the design process. Regular reporting and deliverable-based reviews will be required. Key Responsibilities: Lead UX design for enterprise digital platforms, including websites and intranet applications. Conduct user research, analyze findings, and generate actionable design insights. Create UX analysis documents, wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes in Figma. Apply and maintain WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance throughout designs. Conduct presentations of UX findings and design recommendations to key stakeholders. Provide quality assurance and browser testing support during system testing. Maintain version-controlled design documentation in Figma. Perform knowledge transfer sessions with internal teams. Submit weekly status reports and participate in monthly deliverable reviews. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in Principal UX Design roles, applying human-centered design principles for web, mobile, and responsive applications using HTML5, CSS3 (SASS), JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, and modern responsive layouts. 5+ years of experience designing user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and contributing to design systems and pattern libraries. Advanced proficiency in Figma with expertise in maintaining version history and managing design components. Demonstrated ability to drive process and design improvements, project planning, and work within structured software development life cycles (SDLC). Strong experience with web accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA, ideally within California state or government projects.
