Job Summary: The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy equipment, construction materials, and other loads to and from job sites using Class A vehicles such as flatbeds, lowboys, and dump trucks. This role requires a professional driver with a strong understanding of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and load securement. The driver will be expected to deliver materials according to schedule, support loading and unloading activities, and maintain detailed delivery records.
Duties/ Responsibilities: Operate Class A commercial vehicles (e.g., flatbeds, lowboys, end dumps) in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards Transport construction materials, tools, and equipment between the warehouse and job sites Load and unload equipment and materials using proper rigging and securement methods Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting findings and reporting mechanical issues Maintain compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) and complete electronic and/or paper driver logs as required Plan driving routes to optimize fuel efficiency, time, and safety Assist with material handling and on-site logistics as needed Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle and ensure it is stocked with necessary safety equipment Communicate with dispatchers, project managers, and site supervisors to coordinate deliveries and address any challenges Adhere to safety procedures and use PPE at all times Assist with maintenance tasks as assigned during downtime Other duties as assigned Education/Certifications/Licenses
High School Diploma or GED required Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT physical) OSHA 10 Certification or ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements are a plus Experience
Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience with a Class A CDL Experience operating and hauling heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers is preferred Familiarity with load securement techniques and safe material handling practices Previous experience in construction, industrial delivery, or similar roles preferred Understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and state regulations Experience operating manual transmission trucks Required Skills/Abilities
Proficient in operating Class A vehicles in varied terrain and weather conditions Strong understanding of DOT safety and compliance regulations Skilled in proper load securement, including use of chains, binders, and tarps Ability to perform basic maintenance checks and minor troubleshooting Excellent route planning and time management abilities Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members and clients Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Physically capable of lifting and securing loads up to 50 lbs Physical Demands/Working Environment
Physical Demands Light to Medium Work. Exerting up to 11 - 50 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers Capable of driving a vehicle
Working Environment
Work primarily in a commercial environment and outdoors for field repairs May be exposed to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs
