Volkert is searching for an experienced
Roadway Project Manager
to support and lead transportation design projects in our
Mid-Atlantic Region
in our
Pittsburgh, PA office .
To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a BS degree in Civil Engineering.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of roadway design projects and roadway design staff.
What you’ll be doing:
Lead and manage Roadway projects and tasks in Pennsylvania for the development of project designs and directing designers to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client focused strategies
Hire and manage production staff to support roadway design for projects
Responsible for organizing activities, schedules, and reporting in support of assigned projects
Prepare, issue and track project documentation such as contracts, change orders, client sign-off, etc. for all phases of assigned project work
Prepare correspondence and documents with clients, vendors and regulatory agencies as required
Assist with other documents such as invoices and purchase orders; and communicate with outside resources when needed
Preparing and/or editing meeting minutes and presentations
Assist with project submittals and bidding activities
Provide support to project team as requested
Support our team and client by providing technical and administrative support
Market new and existing clients
Interacting with clients and the public related to your work and understanding the context of the plans you develop
Aspiring to work in a team environment and participating in business development efforts and meetings with clients. Working as part of a team to deliver a range of transportation and civil design projects
Identifying and analyzing problems using reasoning to arrive at sound engineering conclusions
Adhering to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
What you need to have:
BS degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience
At least 4 years of progressive responsibility within the industry
PennDOT or PA municipal roadway design experience. Experience with other regional clients such as DDOT, WVDOH, MD SHA, and VDOT a plus
Pennsylvania PE is required
Experience in DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
Valid driver’s license.
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
