smartdept. is searching for a Digital Strategist for a crisis communications industry client located in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will come with 2+ years of experience. This is a full-time, onsite, direct hire opportunity. Compensation for this position is expected to be between 70-80K.

As a Digital Strategist, you'll support the planning, execution, and optimization of paid and organic social campaigns for a high-profile crisis communications agency. You will work onsite with a collaborative team, helping to drive measurable results and support rapid response efforts for clients facing complex challenges.

What You'll Do:

Assist in developing and launching paid social media campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube Support organic social content planning, scheduling, and community management Monitor campaign performance, analyze data, and prepare reports with actionable insights Conduct audience research, competitor analysis, and social listening to inform targeting and messaging Collaborate with creative teams on ad copy, visuals, and messaging strategies Help manage campaign budgets and pacing for paid media Stay up to date on platform updates, industry trends, and best practices Participate in crisis response planning and rapid-response social media execution What You'll Need:

Associate's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred Must have experience in Public affairs or issue-related background 2-3 years of experience in paid and organic social media, digital advertising, or a related field (agency or in-house) Hands-on experience with social platforms and their ad products (Meta, LinkedIn, X, YouTube) Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics) Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Analytical mindset and a passion for data-driven results Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience in crisis communications, public affairs, or issue advocacy Knowledge of emerging social platforms and trends Familiarity with creative tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) Experience working with cross-functional teams
