Job Purpose:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products meet established quality standards by conducting detailed inspections throughout the production process. This role supports production by identifying non-conforming parts, verifying documentation, and providing timely feedback to prevent defective products from progressing further in the supply chain. The Quality Inspector plays a vital part in maintaining product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed): Verify electronic product check sheets are completed and saved correctly. Perform manual gage checks for KPC (Key Product Characteristics) items and record data for X-bar R charts. Conduct one-piece manual gage checks on each line every shift. Perform visual inspections for product characteristics not checked by CMM or hard gages. Verify tool change and changeover check sheets are properly completed. Audit lines for FMEA part usage through surprise inspections. Support production in tagging and correctly dispositioning parts (scrap, Quality Market, shipping, rework). Provide immediate feedback on quality issues before parts proceed from the line. Submit daily electronic reports detailing line activity. Audit outgoing parts using checklists prior to shipping (housing and carrier focus). Label bins when parts do not meet quality standards. Ensure bins have correct part labels and certifications. Provide daily summary reports of inspected and shipped parts via electronic spreadsheet. Collaborate with Production to ensure timely and accurate part shipments per production schedules. Create awareness and address improperly labeled or dispositioned parts on the production floor. Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing or quality inspection. Knowledge of production processes, quality requirements, and best practices in manufacturing. Understanding of key characteristics for housing and carriers. Skills and Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Basic math and analytical skills. Ability to read and interpret inspection documentation, check sheets, and quality control plans. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized with attention to detail. Ability to accept and apply feedback constructively. Adherence to standard operating procedures and quality standards. Working Conditions:
This position operates in a manufacturing and production environment. Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed or composite-toed shoes. Exposure to noise, temperature variations, and fast-paced production areas. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time) with scheduled breaks. Must be able to walk up to 3 miles daily as part of inspection responsibilities. Must be able to navigate the production floor and access inspection points.
