The Exhibit Technology Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, research, and integration of electronics, audio/video, PC hardware and software for Orlando Science Center's exhibits departments. This position has a 60/40 split between maintaining and improving current exhibits and the research and development of new Exhibitory. This position supports building written procedures on exhibit maintenance as well as troubleshooting procedures, provides improvements to existing exhibits, and contributes to the design of new exhibits and their visitor interface. The Exhibit Technology Specialist will further support the Orlando Science Center onsite traveling exhibit deployments throughout the calendar year.

Essential Functions

Assists exhibit technicians with repairs and serves as a knowledge base for the teams. Demonstrates expertise in software and hardware computer systems including Windows (XP - 11), OS X (v10.3 - 10.15), Linux. Identifies and diagnoses chronic or systemic technology defects in individual exhibits which reduces their efficiency and reliability or compromises the intended function. Provides and/or implements solutions. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and equipment used in development and programming of microcontrollers, PC's, show controllers and audio/video equipment, along with working knowledge of various programming languages such as Python, Arduino and BrightSign. Assists with the development of new exhibits & grant projects by making recommendations for the safe, efficient, and effective use of technology. Document all wiring diagrams, code and electronic components utilized in new exhibits. Performs other related duties as assigned. Support various AV, Projector and DMX setups throughout the science center. Minimum Qualifications Education : High school diploma or equivalent. Experience:

Ideal candidate possesses an inventive spirit. Solder and board level system diagnostics Demonstrates initiative to work without direct supervision. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to read complex wiring diagrams. Effective oral and written communication skills. Good working knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot computer, electronic, electrical, and audio/video systems as necessary. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools. Experience with interactive software such as Adobe Air, Flash and Director. Ability to work in Auto CAD, Sketch Up, or Fusion360. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Candidate must be responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks and skilled in the use of a wide variety of hand and power tools. Supervisory Responsibility

Physical Demands

Moves throughout the museum. Ascends/descends stairs throughout the museum. Ascends/descends ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks. This position primarily works Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Hours are subject to change to suit the needs of the organization. Nights and weekends as required. Travel: N/A
