Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Payroll and Equity Administration Specialist to coordinate and oversee payroll and equity compensation operations and provide tactical solutions to ensure consistency through an organized, sustainable, and scalable process. This person will have hybrid duties in working with the Human Strategy and Finance Teams to ensure payroll is completed with precision and efficiency. As a quickly growing small company, this person will need to adapt to new processes and tools as we grow our personnel and company infrastructure. Our ideal candidate will have experience in managing all payroll and/or equity compensation functions for a small or medium-sized company and has expertise in building out new processes and workflows.

The primary roles of the position will be to manage:
all activities related to payroll and benefits, which require practical knowledge of payroll policy, government regulations, and federal and state payroll tax regulations
administering and managing the equity compensation programs (stock options, RSUs, ESPP) and software in coordination with the Finance, Human Strategy, and Legal teams
Payroll related
Responsible for timely and accurate processing of the bi-weekly payroll and uploads to the payroll system
Responsible for maintaining payroll reports, personnel records and processing deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and auditable support, and preparing special reports for senior management
Record information about new employees, address changes, and other personnel information, such as wage rates, timesheet transfers, etc
Responsible for withholding and processing of established organization benefit deductions such as life insurance, health and accident insurance, retirement programs, and savings plans, and maintains such records as are necessary for benefit implementation
Consult with appropriate vendors and Human Strategy to resolve employee issues
Research and resolve payroll-related issues and other payroll tasks, as requested
Equity Compensation related:
Process equity transactions, including grants, exercises, cancellations, expirations, and payroll-related transactions stemming from equity compensation activity. Ensure timely and accurate execution
Maintain accurate records of all equity transactions, ensuring compliance with SEC reporting and other regulatory requirements
Provide employees with clear communication regarding equity plan transactions
Perform regular reconciliations of equity data with members of Human Strategy, Finance, and external equity administrators/transfer agents
Coordinate requests and communicate with external auditors and compensation consultants
Provide assistance with the calculation of stock-based compensation expense in accordance with ASC 718
What you bring to Metsera
Bachelor's degree with strong payroll experience and a minimum of 5 years' experience with payroll processing
Demonstrated experience refining accounting/payroll processes for a growing company
Knowledge of equity compensation platforms (e.g. Carta, Shareworks) is preferred.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools
Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with all levels of the organizatio

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The expected salary range for this position is $123,000 - $185,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
