Lead Data Center Technician
Our client is a high growth lobal technology services company with primary focus in providing design, integration, installation, maintenance and managed services to well-known data centers and technology companies. We are looking for a highly energetic, result oriented, passionate, and hands-on team members with a desire to join a growing team. The person should be self-starter, adaptable with attentive to detail and able to work with minimal supervision.
Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment. Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
Provide structured feedback on project progress to Stakeholders. Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness. Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices. Work with various Stakeholders to remove project obstacles. Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation/redline work. Broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
Must be capable of leading a crew of 1-5 technicians.
Must understand customer service, perform job walks and communicate with customer for job requirements.
Accept responsibility of outcome of work performed by him/her and/or by employee that directly report to him/her.
Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
Be able to read and understand job floor plan.
Should be familiar on wiring schemes and wiring testing.
Should be able to pull all types of low voltage cables.
Should understand and be capable in performing field terminations and labeling.
Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork, capable of running midsize to large projects and service jobs.
Possess skill to layout MDF and IDF closets, be able to dress all types of cable and perform all types of terminations and should include basic understanding of fiber equipment, all types of cable and fiber terminations.
Basic understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
Capable of working in Data Centers.
Shall be able to work on analog, DSL, and be able to extend T1 lines.
Be able to patch network equipment.
Reports to Operations Manager and take daily directions from Technician, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians and Advance Senior Technicians.
Track and submit timesheets for crew reporting
Perform job walks
Maintaining paperwork and running service jobs
Copper/Fiber (term, test, splice, troubleshoot)
Responsibly of outcome for work
Track and submit timesheets for crew
Effectively communicate with Foreman, Leads, Tech)
Understanding metrics/SLAs and able to track
Knowledge and understanding of network Handover
Track lessons learned as they occur
Coordinates with QAQC on quality status walks
Knowledge and understanding of Project Close Out
Identify the techs strengths and weaknesses
Physical requirements
Primarily walking, standing, and bending for extended periods with some sitting.
Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, written, visual and listening skills.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
Able to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.
Ability to pull cables.
Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms.
