Job Summary The Surgical Services Nurse Director is at the helm of daily operations and care coordination within surgical departments, overseeing pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative services. This role not only provides leadership to clinical and non-clinical staff but also champions quality and safety initiatives, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The Nurse Director is pivotal in driving departmental performance, fostering employee engagement, and aligning surgical services with the hospital's overarching operational, financial, and strategic objectives. Essential Functions Lead and ensure quality patient care throughout all surgical phases. Supervise and evaluate staff performance, enforcing clinical standards and regulatory compliance. Utilize evidence-based practices to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and efficiency. Analyze patient satisfaction and quality metrics to foster continuous improvement. Create and implement policies and procedures for surgical services that adhere to established guidelines. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to promote effective communication and continuity of care. Involve staff in identifying improvement opportunities and best practices for enhanced patient care. Engage in strategic planning, program development, and resource allocation. Manage department budgets and financial performance, driving initiatives for cost-effectiveness. Adhere to all policies and procedures. Qualifications Associate Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. 3-6 years of experience in surgical services or perioperative care required. 2-4 years of leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough understanding of surgical workflows and patient care standards. Strong leadership and team-building capabilities. Adept at data analysis and performance improvement initiatives. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration. Proficient in budget development and operational planning. Skilled in managing change in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory standards such as CMS and The Joint Commission. Licenses and Certifications RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure required. BCLS and ACLS certifications required. Perioperative Nursing Certification (e.g., CNOR) preferred.
