At Verily, we're on a mission to make precision health a reality-and we're looking for bold thinkers to help us get there. As a Staff Software Engineer on our Consumer Health Systems team, you'll play a pivotal role in transforming how care is delivered and experienced.
In this full-stack role, you'll design and build scalable solutions that personalize patient experiences and make complex health data more accessible. From integrating messages, surveys, and device data to crafting intuitive interfaces, your work will directly impact how people engage with their health and participate in clinical research. Responsibilities Own the vision, roadmap, execution, and technical direction for a broad functional area, setting priorities for the team. Collaborate cross-functionally to define technical specs, oversee design, scope projects, and drive deliverables. Lead and review major software designs, advocate for innovative, forward-looking technical strategies, and improve development processes. Ensure compliance by working closely with privacy, security, and quality teams, while managing project priorities and deadlines independently. Mentor team members on design techniques, coding standards, and support their technical growth. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. 8+ years of software development experience with expertise in a general-purpose programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, etc.). Proven leadership in guiding project teams and setting technical direction. Deep knowledge in a technical domain and experience designing distributed systems. Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), DevOps tools (GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Backstage), and strong written communication for design/architecture documentation. Preferred qualifications
Experience working directly with end customers and stakeholders Experience working at a software product company Demonstrated large scale business impact from delivered solutions Interest and ability to learn new coding paradigms and languages
This role is eligible for Verily-sponsored immigration support.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000 - $247,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
