Job Description:
At Regions, the Data Management and Governance Manager serves as the primary point of responsibility, accountability and monitoring pertaining to the assessment, improvement, management, and governance of enterprise data.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages associates, projects, and program portfolio associated with Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
Manages team responsible for implementing and supporting the data management automation platform (enterprise data catalog, enterprise data lineage, enterprise data quality, EDM portal, EDM dashboard, and other related extensions/interfaces)
Manages matrixed team members such as Business Unit/Operational Managers and Data Stewards as part of the federated data governance model
Manages business relationships and partnerships with Group Data Officers (GDO's)
Develops enterprise data management strategy and roadmap
Explores and researches emerging technologies, partners with lines of business to validate business case/benefits, and incubates/scales new capabilities
Serves as primary liaison for 2nd line and 3rd line Risk responsibilities including regulatory exams, internal audits, and compliance with regulatory mandates
Develops, monitors, and promotes data standards, tools, and EDM best practices
Monitors regulatory landscape (e.g. data privacy) and recommends appropriate next steps
Partners with Learning and Development (L&D) and other key stakeholders to develop and manage a bank-wide enterprise data literacy program
Leads cross-functional teams to execute flawlessly on EDM roadmap and priorities
Takes accountability for data issues management and related business processes
Maintains an effective control environment for appropriately managing data risk
Creates, tracks, and reports metrics for data health for stewarded application(s) or data assets (including developing evidence of compliance with data management standards)
Collects and updates business metadata and reference data for assigned data
Translates business rules into data quality rules for Critical Data Elements and produces data validation controls and measurements in conjunction with Data Custodians
Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data from authoritative data sources; includes being an advocate and resource for collecting all Critical Data Assets into a shared data environment
Serves as key liaison to System Administrators, Custodians, and Data Owners
Serves as an active member of Data Councils, Data Management working groups and other teams as needed
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field
Ten (10) years of experience in Banking, Systems, Management, or related field
Experience managing and governing enterprise data in a highly regulated industry
Full lifecycle experience with implementing and establishing data management automation platform
Ability to build and manage high performing teams, including other people managers and highly skilled business / technical experts
Preferences
Experience with Master Data Management, BI/DW (Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse) or Enterprise Data Architecture
Experience using banking applications such as internal loan, deposit, and customer systems
Knowledge of banking processes, procedures and controls
Familiarity with programming languages (like Python), Big Data Platforms (like Hadoop), and cloud technology platforms (like AWS)
Skills and Competencies
Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audience
Basic Sequel skills
Data Visualization or other Business Intelligence Reporting capabilities
Demonstrated experience with analyzing data, data flows, lineage, and data profiling
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong and proven documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Candidate should have expertise within Data Governance with strong familiarity with regulatory submissions
Familiarity with regulatory submissions like FDIC 370 and 2052a
Familiarity with tools and vendors like Catalog/Alation, Data-Quality/Collibra and Lineage/Bigeye
Hands-on familiarity with one or more of the above tools and vendors would be a plus
Financial Industry experience is a plus
This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office
expectations. Regions
will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building with the primary locations being for
Birmingham, AL.
Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely.
