Role Overview: We're hiring a Senior COBOL Programmer Consultant to lead development, support, and enhancement of mission-critical applications using MicroFocus Visual COBOL, Visual Studio, and Oracle/SQL environments. This role combines hands-on development with production troubleshooting, working across business application layers.
Responsibilities: Enhance and maintain legacy business applications (Phoenix II, web services, batch jobs). Develop solutions using COBOL, Visual Studio (.NET VB/C#), and Oracle/SQL. Participate in full SDLC: analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment. Handle production incidents and ensure application uptime. Collaborate closely with internal IT and business stakeholders. Document work and provide clear status updates. Required Skills:
8+ years MicroFocus Visual COBOL (IIS, Windows Server). 4+ years Visual Studio (2019/2022). 4+ years Oracle/SQL application programming. Preferred Skills:
Advanced SQL (Oracle or MS SQL). IIS setup/configuration. C# .NET backend development. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar (or 10+ years hands-on experience). Certifications in MicroFocus or Microsoft (optional but beneficial).
