Your Impact at SAM

At SAM, we know our strength is in our people - and we’ve built this Apprenticeship Program to train the next generation of leaders in surveying. This program is designed to give you hands-on experience working directly in the field with experienced survey crews, using cutting-edge tools and technology to tackle real-world challenges.

What You'll Do:

As an apprentice, you’ll spend your days outdoors, assisting with land surveys for construction, engineering, and mapping projects. You'll:

Set up and operate total stations

Collect field data including angles, distances, and elevations

Interpret construction plans and take accurate field notes

Perform boundary and topographic surveys

Sketch field drawings and help prepare data for drafting

Learn best practices for job site safety and crew coordination

You’ll work side-by-side with experienced survey technicians and party chiefs, gaining valuable on-the-job knowledge every step of the way. Our projects take place across a wide variety of terrain - this is an active, physical, outdoor role with lots of opportunity to explore.
