We are seeking a highly motivated
Sr. Database Administrator
to join our Information Technology Services (ITS) team.
This job can be performed 100% remotely and out of state candidates will be considered, although preference may be given to local applicants.
The purpose of the Sr. Database Administrator position is to provide the technical data-centric services needed to support CU Medicine’s extensive data assets as well as the automation, analysis and reporting capabilities that surround them. These services are delivered in continuous collaboration with Information Technology Services (ITS), Business, and Vendor stakeholders.
Essential Duties
Manage jobs/automations: This includes monitoring, responding, resolving, improving existing automations as well as deploying and maintaining new ones. Secure Identity, Access, Compliance: Provisioning appropriate accounts and access to data, as well as performing ongoing account and group audits. Optimize Performance: Monitoring the overall health of and implementing specific opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Support DevOps Environments: Creating and supporting the appropriate movement of data objects and code across our Dev-Test-Prod environments. Maintain Dept-Team Portals: Developing, deploying, and supporting various user portal applications across the enterprise. Insure Data Resiliency: Performing, monitoring, recovering backups on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis to insure availability and integrity of data. HIPAA Protected Health Information Access: This position requires daily contact with protected information, including Protected Health Information (PHI) as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Requirements
Undergraduate college degree within a technical area or equivalent experience. 8+ years DBA role(s) on an enterprise Microsoft database platform in a hybrid on-prem/cloud environment, and expert-level skills in all SQL Server components. 4+ years of demonstrated success building and supporting high-volume, mission-critical data and analytics-centric environments and solutions. 2+ years of recent experience building and operating automations that manage data movement within and across on-prem and cloud environments. Effective team collaboration and communication is required, especially given the nature of our remote work model and independence of this role. Must consistently be an active listener, speak with a respectful tone, engage with a consultative approach, and advocate for practical, secure solutions. Demonstrate poise under pressure, tolerance for ambiguity, stamina during challenging stretches, and flexibility when faced with change are expected.
