Sr. Java Developer
CGI Federal is currently seeking skilled Java Developers for future projects with prior experience supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java-based enterprise applications, familiarity with SSA systems and protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced government IT environment. This role will be onsite in Woodlawn, MD (no remote). Candidates should reside within 2 hours of Woodlawn, MD. Your future duties and responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and enhance Java applications used by SSA systems Collaborate with SSA stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions Ensure compliance with federal security and accessibility standards Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in SSA-supported environments Document technical specifications and system configurations Participate in Agile development cycles and sprint planning Working with senior-level customers and staff to provide expert support spanning application design (including systems requirements), development, testing, implementation, and maintenance support. Will be developing service oriented applications using REST and SOAP based Webservices. Coordinating among project teams to ensure enterprise-wide consistency of application development efforts. Ensuring that information security risks are managed, and identifying and addressing barriers and risks to successful implementation. Providing recommendations and solutions to complex problems. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 7+ years of experience in Java development, including J2EE, Spring, and Hibernate Experience with Java, J2EE, EJB, JPA, JSP, XML, Struts and JSON technologies Needs recent hands on experience developing service oriented applications using REST and SOAP based Web Services. Experience migrating Java applications from mainframe to Cloud Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and AWS. Experience with Struts, Spring and/or Hibernate Frameworks. Experience with Java Batch applications. Experience with JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, and CSS. Experience with NodeJS and Angular a plus Familiarity with SSA's IT infrastructure, including legacy systems and modernization efforts Strong understanding of Oracle databases and WebSphere environments Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines Preferred Skills: Prior experience supporting SSA or other federal agencies Knowledge of SSA's disability and benefits systems Excellent communication and documentation skills Experience with accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance) Familiarity with SSA's Agile development practices Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Skills: Angular COBOL Java Mainframe Microservices What you can expect from us: Together, as owners, let's turn meaningful insights into action.
